French lawmakers are trying to limit the use of nitrates in meat products.
According to a bill recently introduced by some MPs, the use of nitrites and nitrates as additives in raw and cooked meat products will be banned until 2025.
According to the current proposal of the representatives, by 2025, those products that use these materials should inform consumers about the use of these materials in the produced products with labels and warn of its dangers.
Meanwhile, producers of processed meat products also appear to be trying to prevent the plan from being approved by the French parliament.
Now we have to wait and see which group will achieve its goals in the coming weeks.
A group of scientists believes that the use of these substances in meat products can increase the risk of colon cancer in humans.
