Warning to Polish poultry producers about the risk of HPAI outbreak

Polish veterinary officials have warned of a possible outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza in the Polish poultry industry.

The country’s veterinary officials said in a statement, citing warnings issued by the Food Safety Authority in Europe (EFSA), that Poland was also on the verge of migrating to Europe’s wild waterfowl in the autumn and winter seasons.

According to the Polish Veterinary Authority, referring to the regulations of the Polish Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development regarding measures to prevent the outbreak and spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza, polish poultry industry producers must take their poultry farms out of the reach of wild birds and implement a series of precautionary measures and biosecurity in these farms.

Poland is one of the largest producers of chicken meat in Europe.
