Could new UK laws restrict chicken meat and soybean imports?

After the European Union, the United Kingdom is also trying to pass a bill banning the import of any goods into the country that increase deforestation.

Experts believe that imposing such restrictions could reduce exports of chicken meat, soybeans, and other products to the UK.

Meanwhile, a group of UK retailers and meat companies have sent a letter welcoming the government’s decision.

A group of retailers and companies such as McDonald’s, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Marks & Spencer, and Nestlé calling for strict rules to prevent imports from deforestation areas.

These companies sent a letter to George Eustice, the British Minister for the Environment and Agriculture, calling for strict regulation.

Some commentators believe that the application of this law can only target tropical countries.

However, the Brazilian government has warned the UK against implementing such plans, forcing Brazilian manufacturers to provide complete supply chain information, and acknowledging that it will refer the matter to the World Trade Organization if necessary.
